Overview:
This program is designed for IT professionals that are looking to become SQL Database Administrators. Students will have the skills to administer, manage, install, secure, and optimize the SQL database platform by learning the basics of database functionality and more advanced database administration skills of performing backups and recovery operations, improving database performance, and enhancing security.
Learners who complete a certificate will be able to:
1. Use strategies for gathering data about the capacity of basic system resources.
2. Design a strategy for data archiving.
3. Design a database server infrastructure of an organization.
4. Design a data distribution plan for multiple locations.
5. Design a comprehensive data recovery strategy.
6. Establish database conventions and standards to help organize server infrastructure.
7. Design SQL Service security.
8. Implement server-level security using authentication methods.
9. Design SQL Server instance-level, database level, and object-level security policies.
10. Apply guidelines and consideration for securing data using encryption and certificates.
11. Apply guidelines to respond to virus and worm attacks, denial-of-service attacks, and injection attacks.
12. Plan automated systems for database & server maintenance.
13. Deploy & manage SSIS packages.
14. Troubleshoot performance issues caused by poorly performing queries and data integrity issues.
15. Troubleshoot performance by analyzing data captured through a monitoring solution and narrowing an issue to a particular database environment area.
